2004 Season - Week 1

Most Fancied NFL Franchises

Further draft analysis shows that the combined wisdom of the BUMS make Seattle the most attractive offensive team as 7 Seahawks found their way onto BUMS rosters on Draft day. It was a close run thing with 4 teams (Atlanta, Indianapolis, Minnesota and New England) providing 6 players each while 6 teams (Cincinnati, Green Bay, New Orleans, NY Jets, Oakland and Pittsburgh) had 5 players chosen. All of the NFL teams had at least one player selected, though Mark stood out on his own signing the only Cardinal (Fitzgerald) and the only Charger (Tomlinson). All other NFL rosters had at least 2 players selected. Same again Charlie Last year highly touted rookie (and signed by Johnny) Detroit’s Charlie Rogers broke his collarbone in week 4 and missed the rest of the season, last night Rogers (again drafted by Johnny) broke the same bone and will miss significant playing time. Also injured yesterday was Aaron’s receiver Joey Galloway (groin strain - out indefinately) and Daz’s RB Moe Williams left the Minnesota game with an ankle sprain. Strangest Stat Line 4 BUMS players scored 3 TDs in week one, including the first two players drafted Priest Holmes (Phil) and Shaun Alexander (Daz), and franchise player Terrell Owens (Gareth). The last RB chosen was Jerome Bettis (belatedly picked by Ron after he returned from Greece). Against Oakland Bettis (now backing up Duce Staley in Pittsburgh) rushed 5 times for just 1 yard - but scored on three 1 yard TD runs! Trading Day 1 Sky are showing double headers for at least the first 6 weeks of the season so Trading Day 1 will be before the week 5 fixtures on Sunday Oct 10th. We will trade at 3pm, immediately followed by New York Giants @ Dallas and then what promises to be a great shoot-out, Seattle @ St Louis. Remember this is a key date at which future Franchise players like Clinton Portis and Daunte Culpepper were signed for a song. Monday Night Football. We will be at Johnny’s from 6:30pm on Tuesday evening to see Carolina host Green Bay off tape. It will be broadcast on Five from 1:30-5:30 on Tuesday morning.
